1950 Aerocraft Model D 14’ Aluminum Runabout

Here for your bidding pleasure is a Ca. 1950 Aerocraft Aluminum hulled runabout- this is a Model D. Note the tumble home to the transom that ends at the canted corner braces. The coolest part of this boat is the MECHANICAL chine in the front of it- very machine age! Aerocraft had this type of styling on the bows of their entire product line from their inception in 1946/7 through the early 1950s and then changed to a more conventional sloped chine. This is a hull that is very fast given the shape of it- should keep up every bit with similarly powered Alumacraft, Feathercraft, Starcraft vintage aluminum boats.

This boat is in nice shape and is very straight. It was used by an elderly gentleman as a fishing boat, and this boat would be perfect for any motor sized 5 to 35 as you could either tiller operate or as you can see, there was once a helm up front on the wheel deck. Condition is very nice, no evidence of abuse. The transom knees are in great shape and have not been damaged or altered. I do not see anything wrong with this boat, it is in FAR above average condition for a boat its age. The old man did remove the center deck on this boat but all of the braces are present and it’s a 3 piece design (all flat aluminum) if you ever wanted to put it back. I don’t see any of the brace rivet holes even damaged on this- it would be very easy to put it back. But not many people want a boat this size with a divider in it!! You may want to check the transom board on it for strength, rot on the back side of it, but that is just regular and easy maintenance on a boat like this. It comes on a tube style trailer, similar age, very sturdy. The tires should be good, I towed this rig about 400 miles last year with no issues.
